UpdraftPlus Working on a Clef Alternative Called Keyy
UpdraftPlus released their Clef Alternative: Keyy. You can read my full review here.

The people over at UpdraftPlus have been hard at work making a Clef alternative. For those of you who don’t know what Clef is, it was one of the best, coolest and most innovative two-factor authentication apps that I have ever seen in my life.

With its blue signature bar-code, Clef managed to become the favorite two-factor authentication app amongst many people in the WordPress community because of the following reasons:

  1. Easy to pair your WordPress site with your Clef account using your phone’s camera.
  2. Easy to log in using your camera by scanning their uniquely designed barcode.
  3. Ability to hide login form, disable passwords and make Clef the only way to log in.
  4. Set up timed sessions.
  5. Sign out of your WordPress site from the app.

Now that it’s gone, people are looking for an alternative. There’s one company out there that dared to make a Clef alternative and that company is called UpdraftPlus.

So let’s take a look, who are they? What do they do? And how are they going to make a Clef alternative that is worth using?

Introducing a brand new /news47ell

I‘ve been working on re-designing/optimizing this website for a while now, almost two months. During this time, I learned a lot about HTML, CSS, SVG, Adobe AI, Fonts, Chrome’s DevTools and many many other things that allowed me bring this new look to the site and improve its performance.

I had a lot of fun while trying to make the site as fast as possible, and I think I did a pretty damn good job considering these high scores I got in GTMetrix, Pingdom and WebPageTest.

I challenged myself to achieve the highest score possible, which at one point meant deleting a big chunk of the CSS codes that I wrote because honestly, things went out of control at one point.

I also went as far as inserting the site logo manually just so I can get rid of the ‘Serve scaled images’ in GTMetrix, all thanks to Tom Usborne, the developer behind the GeneratePress framework which is what the site is running on at the moment.

Let’s take a deeper look at what’s new in /news47ell
