The people over at UpdraftPlus have been hard at work making a Clef alternative. For those of you who don’t know what Clef is, it was one of the best, coolest and most innovative two-factor authentication apps that I have ever seen in my life.
With its blue signature bar-code, Clef managed to become the favorite two-factor authentication app amongst many people in the WordPress community because of the following reasons:
- Easy to pair your WordPress site with your Clef account using your phone’s camera.
- Easy to log in using your camera by scanning their uniquely designed barcode.
- Ability to hide login form, disable passwords and make Clef the only way to log in.
- Set up timed sessions.
- Sign out of your WordPress site from the app.
Now that it’s gone, people are looking for an alternative. There’s one company out there that dared to make a Clef alternative and that company is called UpdraftPlus.
So let’s take a look, who are they? What do they do? And how are they going to make a Clef alternative that is worth using?
As always, I was browsing some sites, scrolling up and down on them. Suddenly, I decided visit CNN, not for the news, but to see the site’s footer because I don’t remember seeing what it looked like for a while.
So I did, and I’m glad I did because I noticed that their footer said this:
© 2016 Cable News Network. Turner Broadcasting System, Inc. All Rights Reserved.
CNN Sans ™ & © 2016 Cable News Network.
Apparently, on April 21st, CNN rolled out their proprietary, “brand new” typeface called CNN Sans.
It’s not every day that I write something about another news site, but this time, it’s different and the news is shocking and strange at the same time.
In an email sent to its users, GhostMail, An encrypted email provider announced that it will shut down the service on 1st of September 2016.
The Switzerland-based company started in 2015, and offered both free 10 GB email and paid service for $59.
It included many features like:
- Self Destructing Email & Chat
- Two-Factor Login
- GhostBox Cloud Storage
- Swiss Data Citizenship
I‘ve been working on re-designing/optimizing this website for a while now, almost two months. During this time, I learned a lot about HTML, CSS, SVG, Adobe AI, Fonts, Chrome’s DevTools and many many other things that allowed me bring this new look to the site and improve its performance.
I challenged myself to achieve the highest score possible, which at one point meant deleting a big chunk of the CSS codes that I wrote because honestly, things went out of control at one point.
I also went as far as inserting the site logo manually just so I can get rid of the ‘Serve scaled images’ in GTMetrix, all thanks to Tom Usborne, the developer behind the GeneratePress framework which is what the site is running on at the moment.
Let’s take a deeper look at what’s new in /news47ell
Reddit Release New Official App for both iOS and Android after 18 month of acquiring the ever-popular app Alien Blue.
Back in October 15, 2014, Reddit acquired the app Alien Blue and made it the official app for Reddit but it kept the original name and design of the app.
Most of the time when i’m out of the house, I don’t have an internet connection with me, so I have two ways of entertaining my self:
- Spotify Premium: this is my #1 option for entertainment when i’m out of the house, I open my Starred playlist and let the Metal begin flooding inside my brain.
- Pocket Cast: When I get so busy and I feel like I’m missing out on a lot of technology news, I fireup this bad boy, and listen only to the titles that seems intriguing.
Discontinued, that’s what you will see upon visiting the Vemedio website, the company behind the podcast app Instacast.
9to5mac report that an email was sent to all Instacast premium members telling them that the app has been continued.
