What is Two Factor Authentication?

Two Factor Authentication

Two factor authentication is a way of verifying a user’s identity using two factors: 1) something they know, 2) something they have. It’s a second layer of security to ensure that no one can access your account. You can think of it as a second password.

If you have a bank account and used online banking, then you have used Two factor authentication. It’s the code that is sent to your phone to verify your identity. This is just one way of getting that code, out of five.

The other way is by using a Two factor authentication app. An example of that would be 1Password, Authy or Google Authenticator. Services like Google, MailChimp and Lightning Base allows you to pick an app as your authentication method.

You can also get the code by an automated phone call, an email or by a hardware token such as the RSA SecureID.

A service with apps on all platform that I can’t live without anymore, A service that 2 days ago saved my ass.

Design iOS 7 using Microsoft Word!

I’ve never seen anything like this, but i definitely want to see more and more.

I’m talking about this amazing video made by Václav Krejčí

Václav Krejčí Is not your everyday GUI designer, he’s a guy with a crazy idea to design a lot of awesome and cool design using Microsot Word, and to start he designed the iPhone 5 and iOS 7 completely from Microsoft Word.

PocketCast, A Solid old player with a new design in the podcast market.

Since 18th Mar 2012 I started using Sticher radio app to listen to my favorite podcast shows like (TWIT & The Vergcast). Now Oct 1st 2013 it is time to change, it’s time for an upgrade, it’s time to switch to the best podcast player in the market. It’s time to use PocketCast!

I care about apps design too much, and it plays a major part in my life when I want purchase new ones, and with the all new design for iOS 7 it was the best opportunity to see what developers from around the world will do about this. For now, Stitcher didn’t change anything about the design of its app, I mean the app work like it should but it’s design is so old, like really really old, the only thing they did is adding a subscription option to remove ads and a listen later feature which is super weird since the app already continue playing from where you stopped the last time.

PocketCast took this opportunity in a very great way, the developers behind it at Shifty Jelly managed to revamp the look and feel of their app and keep the update for free to their old users, which is something not a lot of developers do like what happened to the app Reader.

Packed with many amazing features PocketCast managed to steal my heart from Stitcher and made me do the switch instantly. 1- Universal on iOS. 2- Fast refresh. 3- Auto Update. 4- Sync.

The design look amazing on both the iPhone or the iPad, Starting from The amazing red color of the logo, and the interface inside, ending to the small colorful icon inside the app, PocketCast really brought life back to podcast after I spent 2 years exclusively using Stitcher, I really was looking for something like this, and I thought I found it with Downcast, but I guess I wasn’t doing a great job searching for the best podcast app, but PocketCast really did it for me.

With PocketCast you don’t need to worry about Fast Refresh and download speed, I won’t say anything about this but I will let the people from Shifty Jelly speak for them self:

Pocket Casts utilizes a global network of servers designed to do the heavy lifting so your phone doesn’t have to. Our servers check for new episodes and deliver the updates instantly to your device. Your phone doesn’t need to check each of your subscriptions individually since our server did it hours earlier. This results in a much faster refresh and considerably less bandwidth use than other podcast apps.

Syncing is fast, simple, and easy to setup, all you need to do is to create an account and you are good to go.

And last but not least Filters, all I can say about it is… sorry, go buy the app and try it for yourself! PocketCast for iOS / PocketCast for Android
